Kendall Jenner Signals Loafer Season Is Here
Kendall Jenner is entering a transitional fashion phase. It’s a tricky one. The period between summer and autumn wreaks havoc on even the world’s most stylish, who aren’t ready to give up the last of the sunshine, but are secretly quite excited to get back into knitwear. The conundrums! For Jenner, this has resulted in some hybrid looks. Let’s unpack her latest bralette meets loafer moment.
While out in Los Angeles, the model wore a teeny-tiny crop top with a dégradé silk wrap skirt by The Row and the brand’s new-season tasseled loafers. Her in-between look showed that classic Penny styles aren’t just the natural bedfellows of tailoring in the cooler months (see also Hailey Bieber, who teams her preppy Chanel shoes with ankle socks and miniskirts). Add a classic crew-neck sweater, and Jenner could rock this get-up come October. (Considering The Row’s luxury price tag, we hope we will see her rewear these pieces in the coming months.)
Getting ahead on next season’s key buys (expect those tasseled beauties to sell out pronto as the back-to-school mood kicks in come September), proves Jenner is dedicated to maintaining the chic image she’s honed over the last year. While her sisters will be decked out in Balenciaga’s cult collab with Adidas and the other new-gen supers are still on a nostalgic fashion flex, Kendall is going down a quieter fashion route. When autumn hits, there will be no more bikinis or bralettes, just The Row tailoring and Khaite denim, with a smattering of Jil Sander and the occasional Jean Paul Gaultier. This transeasonal look is a taste of what’s to come in Jenner’s Cali girl meets twenty-something businesswoman evolution, and it suits her.
